Biological Dentistry

Frequently Asked Questions

Brief and honest: what the approach can achieve, what it costs, and how to get started.

What does “biological dentistry” mean?

Biological dentistry views the teeth, mouth and body as one unit. It favours well-tolerated, metal-free materials and minimally invasive procedures, and factors such as nutrition, vitamin D status and inflammatory processes are included in treatment planning. Conventional diagnostics – such as 3D X-rays – remain the foundation throughout.

Is this an alternative to “conventional” dentistry?

No, it's a complement. With us, you get all the services of modern dentistry – implantology, periodontology, orthodontics, paediatric dentistry – and, if you wish, the biological approach on top.

Who is this approach suitable for?

For anyone who values metal-free treatment, gentle techniques and a view of the whole body – particularly in the case of intolerances, chronic complaints, or ahead of major restorative work and implant placement.

What does the treatment cost?

Most services in biological dentistry are private services billed under the GOZ. You receive a transparent treatment and cost plan in advance; patients with statutory health insurance also receive the standard-care subsidy from their insurer. Instalment payment is possible through our financing partner. Privately insured patients and those with supplementary dental insurance often receive reimbursement – we help with the paperwork.

What happens at the first appointment?

We take the time to hear your history and your goals, examine thoroughly, take a 3D X-ray where needed, and discuss the findings calmly in our separate consultation room. Please bring any existing records, X-rays and a list of your medications with you.

Why are lab values such as vitamin D3 checked?

Vitamin D and other markers influence wound healing and bone metabolism. Before implant placement or bone augmentation, we check these levels and correct them if needed – so that the procedure takes place under good conditions.

Do you remove amalgam even if I have no symptoms?

Intact fillings don't need to be replaced hastily. If you would like to have metals removed from your mouth, we plan the treatment in a sensible order and carry it out with protective measures in place.

Do you offer treatment under sedation or general anaesthesia?

Yes. For longer procedures, or in the case of dental anxiety, we treat under sedation or general anaesthesia on request – with our own emergency and sedation protocol.

Do patients also come from further away?

Yes, regularly. On request, our business service offers a shuttle from Leipzig/Halle station or airport (we'll confirm the terms in advance), special weekend appointments, and complete treatments in the shortest possible time.

What “by arrangement” means

On Saturdays we treat by prior arrangement — specifically for matters that need a long, uninterrupted block of time: implant placements, larger surgical procedures, extensive dental prosthetics, treatment under sedation or general anaesthesia, and appointments for patients who travel a longer distance and would like to have everything done in one day.

For short matters — a polish, a check-up, having a filling looked at — we will find an appointment together during the week. That is usually quicker for you as well.

Whether your case fits, we can clarify on the phone in two minutes.
