Biological Dentistry

Biological Dentistry

Our Zahnkompetenzzentrum offers you a broad spectrum of biological dentistry. Using gentle procedures and well-tolerated materials, we treat and help prevent diseases of the teeth, gums and jaw. We discuss openly what this approach can and cannot achieve – without promising a cure.

01 / Blood test for LDL / vitamin D3

Before treatment, we check important health markers such as LDL cholesterol and vitamin D3. A vitamin D deficiency can impair bone healing; your cholesterol level gives an indication of your metabolic state. These values help prepare for surgical procedures and do not replace an examination by your GP.

If a deficiency is found, we recommend – in consultation with your GP – correcting it before the procedure. This creates good conditions for wound healing.

02 / Biological, Vegan Prophylaxis

Prophylaxis is an important part of maintaining your oral health. For anyone who values a holistic, gentle approach to caring for their mouth, biological prophylaxis is exactly right. We use exclusively natural, vegan products (e.g. polishing pastes, gum balms, etc.) and avoid preservatives and mineral oils. On request, we can work fluoride-free; however, according to current guidelines fluoride is the most effective protection against tooth decay – we will advise you openly on this.

03 / PRF – supporting healing with your own blood

As a special feature, our practice also uses the PRF technique (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) alongside surgical procedures. It makes use of the growth factors in your own blood to support wound healing after procedures – using your body's own material, with no additives.

What PRF can do: The aim is calmer wound healing with less swelling and fewer after-effects. As with any healing process, the outcome depends on your individual situation.

For this, we take a small blood sample from you. The blood is then centrifuged to obtain the growth factors. These are then applied or introduced as a gel or biological membrane.

04 / Metal-Free Ceramic Restorations / Ceramic Implants

Instead of metal-containing inlays and dental prosthetics (such as gold inlays, ceramic-veneered crowns with a metal base, etc.), we use pure all-ceramic material for inlays, crowns and bridges. This is metal-free, biocompatible and highly well tolerated. All-ceramic material is also highly aesthetic. This makes your 'new teeth' look very natural.

One special feature: we even make all-ceramic inlays, crowns, bridges and veneers without impressions, and usually within a single appointment!

Ceramic implants: Our ceramic implants, made from high-performance ceramic, are metal-free, well tolerated and particularly aesthetic. This makes them especially suitable for people with metal allergies or intolerances.

05 / Consideration of the Meridian System

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) describes relationships between teeth and organs via what are known as meridians. On request, we include this perspective in the consultation. It is not scientifically proven, does not replace dental or medical diagnostics, and no health benefit has been demonstrated.

For complaints outside the mouth, we work together with your treating doctors, rather than promising any particular connection.

06 / Interference Field Removal

We assess chronic inflammation in the jawbone – for example around root-treated, impacted or non-vital teeth – on a case-by-case basis according to the findings. Whether there is any connection with complaints outside the mouth is not scientifically established.

We only take a 3D scan (cone-beam CT) where there is a medical indication for it. If removal is indicated, it is carried out gently; we support wound healing with PRF and appropriately adjusted nutrient support.

07 / Amalgam / Metal Removal

Since 2025, amalgam has no longer been used for new fillings in the EU. According to the professional associations' assessment, intact amalgam fillings do not need to be removed as a precaution. If you would like metal-free treatment, if a proven intolerance or allergy is present, or if a filling needs to be replaced anyway, we replace metal with all-ceramic or composite materials.

We remove amalgam under defined protective measures (rubber dam, oxygen supply, special extraction technique), so that as little mercury vapour as possible is released during drilling. We'll advise you individually on any additional measures.

08 / Diagnosis and treatment of NICOs

The term NICO (Neuralgia Inducing Cavitational Osteonecrosis) describes localised changes in the jawbone that can develop after tooth extractions. The diagnosis is disputed within the professional community; a connection with symptoms outside the mouth is not scientifically proven.

If there is a reasonable suspicion, we clarify the finding clinically and – only where medically indicated – with a 3D scan (cone-beam CT). Where treatment is indicated, we support wound healing with PRF.

09 / Wisdom Tooth Surgery

We remove wisdom teeth in a particularly gentle way, taking biological principles into account. On request, we check your vitamin D status beforehand, as a deficiency can impair bone healing. We support wound healing with PRF; the aim is less swelling and fewer after-effects – though the course of healing is individual.

We're happy to advise you in person. Book your appointment online.
